June
From To Details Contact
05-Jun   World Environment Day
World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June, is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.
The World Environment Day slogan for 2008 is Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy. Recognising that climate change is becoming the defining issue of our era, UNEP is asking countries, companies and communities to focus on greenhouse gas emissions and how to reduce them. The World Environment Day will highlight resources and initiatives that promote low carbon economies and life-styles, such as improved energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, forest conservation and eco-friendly consumption.

06-Jun 09-Jun Malvern Walking Festival
The 2008 Walking Festival coincides with the 3rd year of the Malvern In Bloom competition where Malvern will be putting in a lot of effort to retain the crown it won in 2006. 2007 was the 150th anniversary year of the birth of Edward Elgar, so this is a good opportunity to walk to paths that Elgar walked and understand why he became so inspired.
The list of walks will, as usual, include a wide range of walks to satisfy most tastes from the timid beginner to the more experienced walker. Walks will range from family walks to a walk across the Malvern Hills from End to End. For the very serious walker there is a three day walk along the Worcestershire Way to be concluded on the fourth day with an extra walk to the town of Ledbury.
