One other product in their range is Freesole. Originally designed to repair boots, the soles and the ‘rands’, it can also be used to ‘beef up’ the face of trail shoes and make them last a little longer.

In this video I take a brand new pair of Inov-8 280’s and create a larger toe ‘rand’ on them using Freesole to prevent my toes from pushing through the fabric from the inside and external damage from stones and rocks when hiking.

I’ve done this a few times now and it really does make a difference to the performance of the shoe. Trail shoes can take a bashing from running or hiking, so anything which will make your investment last a little longer, the better.
